Marvels of mobile technology and working in IM are getting more and more evidently beneficial by the day. I took the punch of an expense to purchase an iPad and just yesterday it was delivered to my doorstep. Today already I can pin point how much some of my daily stresses are reduced by the fact that I do not need to sit at the static desktop machine or carry a laptop around in order to tend to the tasks that don’t require development work.
As I was studying my new toy and having a coffee on my terrace this morning it crossed my mind that if you are a blogger and your business mainly consist of dabbling in information, reviews and white hat link building it is really easy these days to run a lion share of your IM business from truly anywhere in the world as long as you have access to the Internet and a lightweight, easy device such as iPad or a net pad that can fit into a purse like bag.
More so it occurred to me that the act of blogging itself is truly easy. I more often than not dread writing a post for the blogs I run simply because it means I have to go through the process of getting to my computer or pulling the laptop out, starting the machine, waiting for it to boot,, so on, so on.
Small, but large enough to be functional devices such as iPad remove most of the dreaded stuff out of the way.
I often think of something to say when I’m away from all the technology needed to write these thoughts down. By the time I get to it, I lose a train of thoughts or the will to do it. I can actively see this changing now.
As for the act of reviewing an iPad all I have to say is I absolutely love it. Two years ago I ditched a blackberry for an iPhone and I thought it was the best decision I had made in the sense of mobile phones and smart phones. This choice to get into iPad just added to the train of practical decisions I made to mobilize myself.
So after reding a plethora of negative and positive reviews on iPad all I have to say to the critics of it that play the “I am against” game is simply that they can shove it up theirs.. If you are not buying the toy for mere entertainment purposes and you want to allow yourself the freedom of being light on your feet and connected and you can see the usefulness of the concept just go for it. You will love it, probably as much as I do.
Now since I do speak of Internet Marketing primarily I would like to share some of the views I have on how these high tech gadgets can really improve your life and keep you better connected to your business at all times.
As I aleady mentioned, if you are blogging, iPad offers a great platform to do it easily. Accessing your wordpress admin panel is stable and very easy. The page elements load fast and smooth. Wherever you are, if you are hooked onto the net, throwing your thoughts out there is a breeze.
If you are writing whitepapers or reports or educational materials, or guides for your info business you can to that with the same level of ease and wherever you are.
If you are running message boards and you need to respond to clients or coleagues you can do that too.
If you are replying to support requests and they are mostly based in writing explanations of any sort, that is just as easy.
Pretty much anything that consists of writing, communication and information sharing doesn’t have to be done from a desktop computer or a bulky laptop. This is a tremendous advantage for people like myself, whose business largely depends on communicating information in the web sphere.
iPad or alike devices fit into a carrying bag the size of a smaller book bag, they are light weight and in the case of iPad very very smooth.
Writing emails for your email campaigns can also easily be done from it. So the more I think about it, the wider the application in IM business I see.
This post and many more to come are written on an iPad as well, while sitting on a terrace having a coffee. In a normal iPad-less day I would either have to sit in my office or I just wouldn’t write anything at all. Go figure

I agree and like your point of view for the Ipad. I have been looking into getting one myself. You have some great remarks for potential uses for it, and I agree with your concepts.
Ipad = free flow of ideas and writing in whatever location you find comfortable.
Laptop/Desktop = your tool for work, programming, tasks and technical aspects.
“Ipad = free flow of ideas and writing in whatever location you find comfortable.”
- Exactly. I find that about 50% of my current work can be done from wherever simply because a lot of it comes down to writing something – you are already familiar with what I do in LD forum and a lot of it also happens via email.
“Laptop/Desktop = your tool for work, programming, tasks and technical aspects.”
- Yes. I do a lot of dev work so I need to use the bulky machines but if I look at it realistically, I can organize my time in a way that would allow me to simply split the days in the week so that i can be away from that portion of the work for the 50% of the time I don’t do it.
Man, I love this thing
Well, I took the plunge and got one. I love this thing! I have been happily blogging away at the lakeside coffee shop up the street for the last couple of days. Getting away from my office has really helped my blogging, wirting and focus.
The only thing I am disliking is the lack of Flash. Can’t Adobe and Apple just get over themselves and start holding hands?
I know. It’s fantastic but flash would be really nice. I think Apple’s attitude towards third pary technology is BS. If they don’t support it they should at least figure out a way to bypass it. Mean while I will set up the mp4 vids watching versions for the course. I was just looking into it yesterday. I want you guys to be able to have “watch on iPad” option too
My biggest criticism is lack of thin handwriting iPad pen (what is available sucks really bad) and lack of corresponding handwriting recognition ability. I hope that will be brought through but it would have been nice to have it right away.
Kristina,
Have you downloaded the free app called “dragon dication” for your Ipad? I have been using it to write some of my blog posts, and am really becoming fond of it. It is surprisingly accurate. If you haven’t downloaded it, it is worth checking out for sure.
I will check it out. Sounds like something I would use.
